we’re not as invincible as we think we are.

yesterday was a tough day.  not just that it was a monday but it was day that our company has been dreading.  the economic recession impacted the nation and world but we have been able to hold out as a non profit for quite a bit of time.  however, we aren’t invincible.  with the increase unemployment  rates in recent months we’ve been impacted and a few weeks ago our president communicated to our company that we’d be doing layoffs.  announcements of specific individuals would be on 6/29.

it was and still is eerily quite throughout our building.  friends and colleagues alike recieve the news of their positions getting removed as our company becomes more lean.  thankfully our team is not impacted and i have a job still.  but your continued prayers and support are appreciated for those who join the ranks of those unemployed.

and as if that isn’t depressing enough, i received a call last thursday from my sister and mom informing me that my grandma (dad’s mom) had suffered severe burns as the house she was staying in had burned (determined that her cigarette was the cause of the fire).  she’s in a burn unit in hawaii and will begin to undergo skin grafts today to remove the 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 30% of her body, mostly her face and upper body.  though i’m not close with my dad’s side, it is still a shock to get a call like that!   please lift my grandma lau, up in your prayers and thoughts. may be she find comfort in her pain and may she feel the love of the Lord and those who care for her.

ciao.
